Professional Development

The Leadership Development microcredential is designed to build the essential soft skills and business acumen needed to lead teams and drive success in modern manufacturing environments. With coursework in Organizational Leadership, Effective Financial Management, and Professional Communication, students explore the interpersonal, strategic, and fiscal dimensions of leadership. Learners gain foundational leadership principles through individual and group activities, while developing a practical understanding of budgeting, cost analysis, and key financial metrics relevant to manufacturing operations. At the same time, they sharpen their ability to communicate clearly, resolve conflicts, and collaborate across departments in diverse workplace settings.

By completing this microcredential, students will be prepared to step confidently into supervisory or team leadership roles. They’ll be able to create budgets, evaluate financial health, lead meetings, deliver professional presentations, and coach team members through challenges. Real-world simulations, case studies, and peer feedback activities provide an applied, reflective learning experience that reinforces both confidence and competence.     Introduction to Microsoft Excel (Level 1)

    The course covers key Excel skills, including setting up spreadsheets, entering and manipulating data, and using AutoFill to save time. Participants will learn how to print spreadsheets correctly, create basic formulas and functions, and edit and format data efficiently.     Participants will learn to summarize data with PivotTables, clean data using text functions, and automate tasks with logical functions like AND, IF, and OR. The course also covers lookup functions such as VLOOKUP and INDEX/MATCH, converting data into Excel tables, and adding objects like logos to workbooks. Additionally, participants will explore data protection techniques. By the end, participants will be equipped to handle more advanced tasks and increase productivity in Excel.     Participants will learn to use data validation, create macros, and apply tools like scenarios and goal seek for "what-if" analysis. The course also covers auditing worksheets, working with external data, and inserting hyperlinks. Participants will learn to manage multiple workbooks, create forms, and get an introduction to Visual Basic for automating tasks.
