Hands-On Learning, Real-World Impact.

OUR METHOD

At ALIC, we combine hands-on technical training with interdisciplinary learning, empowering students, faculty, and industry partners to push the boundaries of creativity and technology.

Learn by Doing

ALIC @ Bessemer’s Industry Integration

ALIC @ Bessemer is dedicated to serving the community by bridging the gap between industry needs and workforce development. The process begins with assessing industry training needs through direct engagement with local businesses to identify skill gaps and emerging technological demands.

Once a need is established, ALIC collaborates with industry professionals, onboarding them as instructors to bring real-world expertise into the classroom. Simultaneously, the necessary equipment is procured to ensure hands-on, practical learning experiences. Under the leadership of the instructor, ALIC then designs a curriculum that aligns with both industry standards and the liberal arts foundation of critical thinking and problem-solving. From idea to enrollment new courses can be launched in as little as 8 weeks, providing local professionals and students with cutting-edge skills that directly contribute to regional economic growth and innovation.

What Makes

ALIC @ Bessemer Unique

Taught by Industry Professionals, Not Full-Time Instructors

At ALIC, we believe the best learning comes from those who live it every day. That’s why our instructors are working professionals—seasoned experts actively shaping the manufacturing industry. No one can know everything, but together, our community brings decades of experience across companies, united by a shared commitment to mentoring the next generation through the ALIC hub.

Modular, Stackable Learning That Fits Your Life

Our workshops and courses are 100% modular and stackable, allowing learners to build skills gradually without the pressure of large upfront time or financial commitments. Whether you’re upskilling for a promotion or exploring a new path, our flexible format fits into your busy schedule.

Hands-On, Real-World Application

Learning sticks when it’s applied. Every course at ALIC emphasizes hands-on experience—whether it’s operating equipment, solving real production problems, or practicing new techniques. This is education that prepares you for the real world, not just the classroom.

Driven by Industry, Designed for the Future

Our curriculum is developed in close collaboration with a network of local manufacturing leaders. This ensures that our courses remain relevant, responsive, and forward-looking—preparing learners for today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities, including economic shifts and technological change.
